Get to Know Our Educators:

Julia Boddy - Senior Class Educator

Hi there! I’m Julia Boddy and am excited to be a teacher here at Hanover Community Christian School!

This will be my third year with the school. Throughout that time, it has been amazing to see the community that flourished upon the foundation of Christ. As Ephesians 2 reminds us, Jesus Christ should be the cornerstone of our faith and thus, of our lives. Christ was a wonderful teacher and example for us to follow after. I am so glad that His story did not end there! He is more than just a good example for us! He is Emmanual, God with us! He came and lived a perfect life, made Himself obedient to the death on the cross, and was bruised and beaten for my sin (Isaiah 53), and rose from the dead to show the debt was paid. He took the penalty of death that I was worthy of when He died on the cross (Romans 5:8). If you have not taken Jesus as your personal saviour, you can. Jesus Himself invites you to come (Matthew 11:28)!

Contrary to what many children think, teachers don’t only exist at school. My home is on a farm where my family has lived for 7 generations. I enjoy maple syrup making, camping, being creative, playing the piano (though I am no pro), and have recently gotten back into sewing. The reason I like a lot of those things is because of family traditions and memories. It is the people that I get to do those things with that make them so special. Spending time with family and friends is never wasted time. I pray that our time together will also leave us all feeling full. Full of God, full of faith, full of blessings, full of knowledge, full of family, full of long-lasting friendships, full of grace, and full of hope.

Elya M - Junior Class Educator

Hi! My name is Elya (though my students will know me as Mrs. M.!), and I’m thrilled to teach at HCCS for the 2026-2027 school year! I look forward to partnering with families, being involved in the community, and helping students learn, grow, and thrive in a Christ-centered environment.

Having always wanted to be a teacher, I graduated with a teaching degree from Lakehead University and have been an Ontario-certified teacher since 2015. But I have been teaching much longer than that since I taught swimming lessons, Bible lessons (at camps and church programs), and home school lessons throughout my high school and university years. I did 3 years of supply teaching in all the grades. Then I went overseas for 7 years to train in English and adult testing courses. Now I’m back and excited to be in a Canadian classroom again! I love teaching all ages, and primary has always been fun for me.

I grew up mainly in Southgate, the second oldest of 7. I also love baking, cooking, crafts, swimming, outdoors, ballet, piano, singing, dancing, and chocolate! I am committed to lifelong learning as well as personal health & fitness. I came to know Christ as a child and understand the importance of spiritual formation from an early age. I recently married a ruggedly good-looking viking named Sven from Alaska. We enjoy hiking, travelling, and fun things like singing Disney and VeggieTales :)

My favourite verse is Galatians 2:20 since it sums up the core of being a Christian:
Christ in me. It is the theme that has changed and directed the course of my life as well as what I will keep on learning until I go to be with Jesus! God’s call on my life has directed me to many places all around the world to serve Him: to know Him and make Him known. I’m passionate about this and love to see life transformation as people get to know Jesus!
